It’s just about the oil. The American empire runs on it, literally. Transportation and Defense (read Offense). Without it, the US is flacid. Hard to rape without a hard-on. Oh well. Democracy begins in the home and in most of the Middle East, there is no democracy in the home. From Hassidic Jews to Shiite Muslims, women are not equal to men and have no real vote in the family. But who am I to mange other people’s homes. Those protests may look like demands for democracy, but other than in Egypt, how many women are really participating.

«US sanctioned» ? «US-sponsored» would be more accurate. Don’t forget the US military bases in Bahrain, Qatar, etc, and who really steers the Saudi military !…
