Just watched the video of St Louis police murdering Kajieme Powell. They are very good with black targets, indeed.
The chickens from the interminable wars of aggression carried out by the US abroad are coming home to roost. It’s not only the militarisation of the equipment and tactics used by US police departments (http://www.commondreams.org/views/2014/08/14/terrify-and-occupy), but what seems to be an increasing recruitment of former military persons to community police departments. As one website, Police Link (http://policelink.monster.com/benefits/articles/11336-ten-steps-to-joining-the-force-for-military-service-members) puts it, «[m]ore often than not, police chiefs, sheriffs, and recruiters are turning to military veterans to fill these positions as they staff the next wave of warriors in the war on crime». That’s what’s known as «community policing». One can’t help wondering about the backgrounds of the police in Ferguson…
