“If the history of the past seven years is any guide, there’s little doubt which direction President Obama will choose. He will go with Official Washington’s flow; he’ll worry about what the editorialists at the Post and Times might think of him; he’ll accommodate the neocons and liberal hawks who remain influential inside his own administration. In short, he’ll continue down the road toward destruction.”

  2. Fret not my dear friends, many more Arabs will die for this transgression. Previously, Arabs died at a steady pace, but the death machine will be made to work a little harder for the next while.

  3. Parenthetically-

It’s patently arrogant to render “third world” persons as disembodied ciphers meting out karmic reckoning.

They can have self-directed motives which are not at all informed by our perceived models of geopolitics.

  4. As a matter of fact, this type of religious fanaticism strikes the poor at least as much as it strikes the bourgeoisie, moreover, in addition to «idealistic incentives», it also offers «materialistic enticements». The most important lesson to be drawn, I suggest, is that purportedly benign interventions in foreign countries generally lead to results the opposite of those by which they are motivated to the public (while they do succeed in generating even more profits for the armament industries and for those who supply mercenaries for hire). It is these interventions which must be stopped….

  6. God and money are both concepts used for herd organization and domination without any real existence in themselves.

Except, that is, for the willingness of believers in them to fight and kill in their name. Both are literally and ultimately backed by personal and state violence.

Just because god and money wars are culturally “normal” does not mean that these wars are not symptoms of mass insanity that sane people must, nevertheless, contend with.

I am atheist to the conceptual object of political theology.
