  1. Maybe back in the 70’s it was, now it is little more than a publicity vehicle for mainstream artists. When I compare the content now with then, it blows me away. I have a compendium of Rolling Stone articles and it truly was a different magazine. Their canning of Lester Bangs was inexcusable. Hunter S. Thompson was the only thing they had going for them for awhile…
