  1. Fish, I think you know pretty well my feelings on this subject. But this piece is so fucking brilliant I have to ramble for awhile.

First, a quick retort with all due respect to Mr. Khider…
Nobody is “stuck” in anything except the Palestinians. I appreciate your passion for the inhumanity but it will not be governments of other countries that save the Palestinian people. Unfortunately, only Israel can do that. Sure we could sanction them, maybe stop supplying them with every weapon ever created. But we won’t. Nor will Canada. Fealty to Israel, über alles.

Choices, changes, humanity could all be options here and have been since the annexation. Israel is violating International Law and Netanyahu needs to be brought to The Hague. How ironic that, “We shall never forget,” only applies to the Israelis and those funding their war machine, which for a tiny country has the 2nd largest military in the world. The Palestinians have rocks, and missiles that don’t explode. I second your question Fish, “…would it make a sound?” So far I hear a very clear and loud HELL NO.

The truly religious right needs Israel for The Rapture. There is no sacred love for the Jews at play here. Which is why this country will never have a Jewish President. There is well-concealed disdain for having to work with “those people” to keep strategic religious, military and border “safety.”

Cry for the babies in Palestine, and the mothers. Cry for the inhumanity that a “Jewish state” perpetuates every damn day in the name of safety; having learned absolutely zilch from the holocaust, while asking us to remember the tragedy and thus not question any act of aggression they desire.

Sadly, no. It would not make a sound and hasn’t for far, far too long.

  2. Sometimes your brilliance shines brighter than at others. Here, you have hit it on the head and then some.

  3. Just a follow up on voting for leadership in Canada that supports Israel. In Canada, we also have a two party system, Liberals (which are our version of Democrat) and PC (our version of Republicans–even funded by the Republican Party of the USA). The current potential alternative to Prime Minister Harper is Justin Trudeau and he he stands equally and unconditionally with Israel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgjTj7h-_xM&feature=youtu.be&t=2m5s&app=desktop
There is a third party in Canada called “The New Democrats”, but their position on Israel is as clear as mud. So much for viable political solutions. Canada is stuck in the same boat as the USA.

  4. Awesome.

  5. Fucking priceless, Mr. Fish – that’s one of your Hall of Fame pieces right there. Trust me when I say this is relevant – I just finished reading Michael Sky’s self-published novel for the second time “Jubilee Day: When America Changes Its Mind About All the Big Things”…. IMO one of the most amazing and brilliant books of this, or any century. You and Mr. Sky are two of the very best, and speak the Truth no holds barred. Thank you.

  6. It is all part of the peace process. Roll the dice and count the casualties in Gaza. The house always wins.

  7. I am sure I am not the only one who saw this coming as soon as the story about the “kidnapped” teens surfaced, if not before.
Netanyahu’s utterances and US positions are as familiar as ever. The UN politely urges, etc.

  8. My Canadian government stands 100% behind Israel and released postal stamps stating as much. When I wrote a letter to the Prime Minister to ask that they stop supporting injustice in occupied Palestine (and supplied a reading list that included Chomsky’s ‘Fateful Triangle’), foreign minister John Baird said that that both parties must resume negotiating for a two state solution. The reply also stated that Palestinians have to “guarantee Israel’s right to live in peace and security” but said nothing of Palestinians who also deserve to live in peace and security. It is clear that according to my government, some are more equal than others. I hope we can vote this government out so that justice can start for a change….

  9. There’ll be no hearing while the silence remains deafening.
