Given that there are so many, many other reasons to question the record of Mr Trump et consortes, it is sad – but hardly surprising – to see all the DNC types choosing to launch McCarthyism 2.0 and attack him on the false charge that he’s Gospodin Putin’s puppet. On the other hand, it’s not difficult to understand why they do so ; it’s far more convenient to blame the outcome of the 2016 US presidential elections on those dastardly Russians, rather than to examine what really went wrong at home. (We see the same sort of process operating in yet another domain – US Democrats and Republicans alike are united in blaming the de-industrialisation of the United States on those dastardly Chinese, rather than daring to examine the real causes of that process….)
